| 10.2.04 - Playing on their
home course, the Foresters finally put four scores in the 70's together for a
304 and finished second in the Forester Fall Invitational. Senior Jay
Tropf shot a one under 71 to lead the Foresters. Andrew Porterfield had
a 77 and Justin Knierim and Wes Knuth both finished with a 78. Although
his score didn't count, Dan Knuth also posted a score in the 70's with his 79
on the day. Taylor University won the match with a 299. Olivet
College was third with a 319 followed by Grace College (334) and Cincinnati
Christian College (406). Taylor's Matthew Hall took medallist honors
finishing with a two under par 70. I'm really pleased to finally see us
posting the scores that we are capable of," said Coach Schownir.
"This is the first time in a while that we have had five of the six
golfers post a score in the 70's. Jay had another great round.
We've consistently had one score at par or better all season, but haven't
been able to follow that up with three additional scores. Today we did.
This should give the guys the confidence they need to make up some ground in
the final MCC Conference golf match Monday. The men are 22-38 as they head
into their final match of the fall. |
