The Foresters hosted a spring invitational at Rock Hollow Golf Club,
one
of the state's top venues, and finished third in a field of six.
Andrew Porterfield and Wes Knuth were HC’s most steady golfers on the
day. Porterfield shot a 39 on the front and a 38 on the back for a
77, which tied him for fifth in the individual standings. Knuth
started with a 41 and finished with 37 for a 78. Jay Tropf, who was
one under par through 10 holes, ran into some trouble on the back nine
and finished with a 79. Justin Knierim provided the final individual
score, an 85, to give the team a 319 for the round.
Tri-State University
took the team title with a 296. Franklin College was second with a
308 followed by HC (319), Manchester College (326), Anderson
University (339), and the University of St. Francis (354).
“Rock Hollow is a
very nice course and is a treat for us and other teams to play,” said
Coach Schownir. “I never like to have to count an 85, but Rock Hollow
can do that do you if you're not hitting the ball well. This is the
first time we hosted a spring invitational in several years. We'll do
this again next year and try to make it an annual event." The men are
now 32-47 on the year. |
