Forester junior Andrew Porterfield placed 20th in the individual
portion of the NAIA Region VIII Golf Tournament held at
Bedford Valley Golf Club
in Battle Creek, Michigan.
Porterfield, who shot rounds of 76-78-79, was the lone Huntington
College representative by virtue of his MCC All-Conference honors
received during last fall's conference season.
"Andrew played solid golf in spurts but
was off at times, too, and Bedford Valley is a strong test that
demands accuracy off the tee and superb putting on large and sloping
greens", said Coach Schownir. "He was only six shots away from
earning All-Region honors for a second year in a row. He still
represented the school well and I'm looking forward to seeing good
things from him in his senior year."
Marian's Zach Wolma was medalist with a
one over-par total of 217 to earn a trip to the NAIA Nationals in
Olathe, KS. In the team category, Spring Arbor University erased a
nine-stroke deficit to Indiana Wesleyan University after 36 holes to
capture a trip to the national tournament.
