Unfortunately, HC shot eight strokes worse on Saturday and finished in last
place with a score of 642. Marian College won the event with a 587
followed by IWU (593), Franklin College (601), Lindenwood University (610),
Missouri Baptist College (610), Spring Arbor University (618), Cornerstone
University, (622), Taylor University (625), and Aquinas College (635).
Andrew Porterfield posted the Foresters' two best scores on the weekend with
a 76 on Friday and a 78 on Saturday for a 154 total. Wes Knuth finished
with a 160 (79-81), Justin Knierim had a 162 (79-83), and Jay Tropf shot a
166 (83-83). Indiana Wesleyan's Andy Varner was the Individual
Medallist with a 135 (68-67). "We're just not playing well right
now," said Coach Schownir. "I really thought we would improve
on Saturday like everyone else did. I feel we're just putting too much
pressure on ourselves to play perfect shots. The conference season will start
at IWU on the 21st and we have a lot of improvement to make if we want to
place in the top five in conference and qualify for regional next
spring." The Foresters are now 4-21 on the season. |
