| 9.13.04 - After a
disappointing performance on the weekend, the Foresters bounced back on
Monday with a solid team effort to finish fourth out of eight teams at the
Jon. P. Spiess Memorial Tournament. Spring Arbor won the event with a
team score of 299. Olivet College was second at 300, followed by the
University of Findlay (301), HC (302), Tri-State-white team (304), Tri-State
-blue team (306), Lakeland College (310), and Siena Heights (314). HC's
Jay Tropf shot a one under par 71 for a second place finish and Andrew
Porterfield was even at 72 and finished third. Both were selected to
the All-Tournament team. Two other Foresters to score were Justin
Knierim with a 79 and Wes Knuth with an 80. "We needed a performance
like this to get our confidence back," said Coach Schownir. "I am
really happy for Jay Tropf. He played like he had been during the summer and
Andrew Porterfield put in another solid round. We need some better support
from the middle and bottom part of the lineup if we want to compete as
conference season starts next week." Their finish moves them to
8-24 on the season. |
