9.21.04 - The Forester golfers opened MCC play at Meshingomeshia Country Club in Marion, Indiana and finished sixth with a team score of 321.  Indiana Wesleyan won the match with a 293 followed by Marian College (302), Bethel College (308), Spring Arbor University and Taylor University (315), HC (321), University of St. Francis (332), Grace College (338), and Goshen College (367).  Andrew Porterfield took top honors for the Foresters with a 77.  Jay Tropf and Justin Knierim both finished with an 80 and Wes Knuth shot an 84.  Indiana Wesleyan's Ben Brodhead led the field with an even par 72 to earn medallist honors.  "On one hand, I feel we are very fortunate to shoot as high as we did and only be six shots out of fourth and even 13 shots behind third," said Coach Schownir. "That can be made up. On the other hand, I can't help but be concerned about the lack of ability that we seem to have to be able to put four scores in the 70's. We're playing courses this conference season that are demanding and we have to find a way to score better."  The men are now 11-29 on the season.
