10.03.05 - With 36 of the 54 holes complete in the Mid-Central Conference Tournament, the Foresters stand in fourth place with a team score of 621.  Marian followed up its 301 with a 299 to take the lead with a 600 after two rounds.  Indiana Wesleyan is currently in second at 609, followed by Spring Arbor (619), HU (621), Bethel (634), Taylor (656), St. Francis (659), Grace (672), and Goshen (749).  The top five teams will move on to the NAIA Region 8 Tournament which will be held in the spring.

In first round action, Andrew Porterfield and Dan Knuth both shot a 75 to lead the Foresters.  Spencer Batt added a 77 and Wes Knuth had a 78.  HU's 305 put them in second place just four strokes off Marian's first round 301 total. Round two saw only two Foresters break 80 with Batt and Justin Imel each shooting a 77.  Porterfield and Wes Knuth both shot an 81.  Batt's two round total of 154 puts him in a tie for 10th in the individual standings.

"Even though we stumbled at the end of the second round, I'm pretty pleased with how things turned out, said Coach Schownir.  "The first round was fantastic and I expected scores to go a little higher in the second round of a 36-hole day. Rock Hollow is such a demanding course that anything off line is penalizing. Still, I like our position going into Tuesday's final round and feel we can place third with a solid score."
