The Foresters began their spring season with a third place finish at
the Campbellsville University Spring Invitational. After
shooting a 326 in the opening round, putting them in fifth place, HU
came back with a 313 in the second round to move up two spots.
Ryan Bonner finished in the 70s in both
rounds to lead the squad. He shot a 76 on the opening day and
followed that up with a 77 on day two. His 153 was the sixth
best score in the tournament, earning him a spot on the
All-Tournament Team.
Following Bonner was Justin Imel
with a 158 (82, 76), Spencer Batt with a 165 (85, 80) and Patrick
Davis (83, 84) and Dan Schroeder (87, 80) both with 167.
“I’m really proud of
our guys and how they battled on a very long course (7200 yards),"
said Coach Green. "Many of the other teams have been playing in golf
tournaments for the past few weeks. This was our first spring
tournament and you could tell we were trying to shake off a little
rust from the winter. It was nice to see us improve our team score by
13 strokes the second day.”
The men move over the .500 mark with their third place finish to 35-33-3
for the year. |
