| 04.19.07 - A two
and a half week layoff seemed to take its toll on the Foresters, who
finished fifth of nine teams with a score of 646 at the Spring Arbor
University Invitational. The Cougars won their own invite with a
team score of 623.
Justin Imel was the bright spot for HU who tied for medalist honors
with a 152 (73, 79), but finished second following a playoff. Spencer
Batt (84, 79)
and Ryan Bonner (83, 80) both had a 163 on the day. Dan
Schroeder (87, 81) shot a 168 and Luke Smith (88, 86) finished with a
174 in his first competition of the season.
"We didn’t play that well, but I guess
that’s expected when we’ve had so many matches cancelled due to
weather," said Coach Green. "I’m glad we were able to play in this
tournament and use it as a tune up for Regionals next weekend."
Cornerstone finished second with a
score of 630 followed by Madonna (637), Indiana Wesleyan (641), HU
(646), Taylor (649), Siena Heights (651), Aquinas (657) and Albion
(669).
With their second place finish, HU now stand 44-38-3
on the year. |
