04.05.08 - The HU golf team opened its spring competition with a fourth place tie at the Indiana Wesleyan Spring Invitational by posting a score of 627.

Spring Arbor won the event with a 618 followed Indiana Wesleyan (619), Hope (624), HU and Lindenwood A (627), Lindenwood B (631), Cornerstone (637), Aquinas (673), Lindenwood C and Siena Heights A (685), Taylor (691) and Siena Heights B (734).

Spencer Batt and Ryan Bonner led the Foresters with identical 156 scores, which tied them for tenth in the individual scoring.  Cory Powell shot a 157, Justin McMillan 159 and Justin Imel 164.

"We battled with some tough playing conditions on Friday, but we know we should have posted some better scores than we did," said Coach Green.  "We really struggled putting all weekend.  Usually our short games are pretty solid, but they seemed to leave us on this particular weekend.  We've got a long way to go in order to get ready for NAIA Regionals in three weeks, but I know these guys will respond and work very hard on their games."
