The Foresters
finished fourth of 11 teams at the University of Indianapolis
Invitational played at the Links at Heartland Crossing.
Indianapolis won the tournament with a team score of 576, with Northern
Kentucky second at 581. Marian was third at 590 with HU one stroke
back at 591.
Justin Imel had a closing round two-under-par 70 and finished the
two-day tournament with a 144 to lead the Foresters. Imel tied for
fifth in the individual standings. Indianapolis’ Seth Fair shot a 139
(65, 74) to take medalist honors. Cory Powell turned in a 73 and a 72
for a 145 to place seventh individually. Justin McMillen finished
with a 149 (74, 75), Ryan Bonner shot a 153 (76, 77) and Spencer Batt
turned in a 159 (78, 81).
“We had two freshmen making their first collegiate appearance (Powell
and McMillen),” said Coach Green. “They played excellent golf and
really gave us a big boost over the two days. Justin Imel also played
very consistently over the two day tournament to lead us.”
Rounding out
the field behind the top four teams were Southern
Illinois-Edwardsville (599), Butler (600), St. Joseph’s (617), Quincy
(628), Kentucky Wesleyan (631), Taylor (641) and Oakland City (659). |
