The Forester golf team opened its spring season with a win at the
University of St. Francis Spring Invite. HU shot a 302 on the
first day to take a four stroke lead and came back with a 291 the
second day to win by six strokes with a 593.
Spencer Batt, who turned in an impressive round of 69 on day two,
earned medalist honors with a 145 for the tournament. Cory
Powell was right behind him with a 146 (71, 75). Jordan Dawes
turned in a 149 (77, 72). Justin Imel shot a 153 (78, 75) and
Ryan Bonner finished with a 161 (82, 79). HU's Dan Schroeder
played individually and tallied a 162 (79, 83).
Cornerstone finished second behind
the Foresters with a 599 followed by Wheaton (613), Spring Arbor and
Indiana Tech (620), Bethel (621), St. Francis (633), Taylor (644),
Siena Heights (648) and Goshen (710).
"The guys played very well today," said
Coach Mark Green. "Spencer was outstanding today with his round of
69. Jordan Dawes also played great and finished strong with a round
of 72. The guys are really starting to grow in their confidence as a
team." |
