The Foresters shot three strokes better on day two of the NAIA Men's
Golf National Championships with a 319, but it wasn't enough to
propel them any higher in the team standings as they remained in
26th place. After the completion of Thursday's round, the
field will be cut to the top 17 teams and 40 individuals.
Heading into Thursday's round, HU needs to make up quite a bit of
ground to make the cut. They will begin today’s round 17 strokes
out of 17th place.
It was again Ryan Bonner posting the Foresters' top score on
Wednesday. He shot a six-over-par 77 to put him at +11 after two
rounds. Spencer Batt turned in a 79 on day two and stands at +20.
Justin Imel shot an 81 and is +22. Jordan Dawes finished with an 82
for the second round and is +20 for the tournament and Cory Powell
had an 83 to make him +26 after two rounds.
Top-ranked Oklahoma Christian University extended its lead to six
strokes through the second round. The Eagles shot a 298 to follow
up a first-round 291 for a 21-over-par 589 two-day total at the TPC
@ Deere Run Golf Course in Silvis, Ill. A pair of Oklahoma
Christian golfers remain atop the leaderboard as the only players in
the 151-player field under par. Axel Ochoa is at three-under 139
after a second-round 70. Fernando Gonzales is two shots back with a
one-under 141.
The Foresters kicked off their third round this morning at 7:00 a.m.
The list of teams and individuals making the cut to play in Friday's
final round will be available on the NAIA website
