Third year coach Mark Green returns a veteran squad
for the 2008-09 season that recorded the third highest win total in
the program’s history with its 62-18-1 record last year. NAIA
All-Region selection, Justin Imel, returns for his final campaign
having led the team with a 75.64 stroke average a year ago. Three
MCC All-Conference players, sophomore Cory Powell (76.0) and seniors
Spencer Batt (78.63) and Ryan Bonner (78.21), also return for Coach
Green.
With the addition of two talented newcomers, Jordan
Dawes (Wawasee High School, Leesburg, IN) and Andrew Keeler
(Bluffton High School, Bluffton, OH), the squad appears poised ready
to challenge the teams that have dominated the MCC for several
years.
The MCC has been dominated for many years by Marian
and Indiana Wesleyan.
This year’s squad appears poised
ready to challenge those teams.
"This
team has the goal to win a conference championship and qualify for
the NAIA National Tournament," said Coach Green. "With the senior
leadership and the quality of players that we have, I know that this
team is fully capable of reaching that goal."
