11.13.04 - In a battle between two NAIA Division II ranked teams, it was the 17th-ranked Golden Eagles of Cornerstone University that out-lasted the 3rd-ranked Foresters 69-66.  HC led by as many as eight in the first half, but Cornerstone rallied to take a 38-37 lead at the break.  The Golden Eagles took command early in the second half out-scoring the Foresters 17-6 over the first five minutes to take their biggest lead of the game at 55-43, but HC wouldn’t go away.  The Foresters clawed their way back to within one at 67-66 on a lay-up by Doug Sheckler with 18 seconds left, but then had to foul Cornerstone to stop the clock.  John Freund hit both free throws for the Golden Eagles and a last second 3-point attempt by HC’s Kyle Ganton fell short.  About midway through the second half, the Foresters stepped up their defense and held Cornerstone scoreless over a four minute span, but HC failed to take advantage on the offensive end as they went 2-6 from the field and 2-7 from the charity stripe.  The Foresters shot 40% for the game and were 11-19 from the line for 58%.  Alex Kock led all scorers in the game with 20 points for the Foresters.  Doug Sheckler chipped in a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.  Brandon Voorhees and Mike Cameron each had 12 to lead Cornerstone. With the loss, the men fall to 2-2 on the season.
