11.1.04 - The Foresters opened their season on the road against NCAA Division I IPFW and came up short on their upset bid losing 87-77 to the Mastodons.  HC was quick out of the gate, jumping out to a 10-2 lead three minutes into the game, but IPFW countered with an 18-0 run over the next five minutes to go up 20-10.  The Foresters battled back within one at 28-27, but back-to-back turnovers that resulted in two IPFW treys gave the momentum back to the Mastodons.  The seesaw first half came to a close with HC down five at 42-37.  In the second half, the Foresters kept within striking distance and tied the score at 73-73 on a 3-pointer by Alex Kock with 3:07 left in the game, but it was IPFW's defense down the stretch that was the difference in the game.  With the score knotted at 73, the Mastodons forced HC into three turnovers in their next four possessions and allowed no field goals and just four free throws to seal the win.  For the game, the Foresters committed 22 turnovers which led to 23 points for the Mastodons.  IPFW's Quintin Butler led all scorers in the game with 25 points on 10 of 14 shooting and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds.  Chase Verba and Doug Sheckler each scored 19 to lead HC.  Steve Snider and Alex Kock added 13 apiece.  The loss gives the men a 0-1 record to start the season.
