11.22.05 - The Foresters (7-1) battled Indiana Wesleyan (5-3) in their first MCC Conference match-up of the season and held off the feisty Wildcats for the 89-83 win.  After trading baskets the first five minutes of the game, IWU was the first to put together a mini 6-0 run to take a 14-8 lead at the 12:33 mark. Following a timeout, Huntington answered back with a 12-3 spurt to take a 22-17 lead with just under eight minutes to play.  HU's Kyle Ganton closed out the first half with four of his team-high 25 points to give the Foresters a 38-28 lead at the break.

The Wildcats got the long ball going early in the second half, knocking down three consecutive treys to all but erase their 10-point deficit.  Following two IWU jumpers, a Joel Tonagel 3-pointer gave the Wildcats a 44-42 lead with 15:44 on the clock.  A layup by HU's Steve Snider knotted the score at 44-44 and an old-fashion three-point play by Ty Riddle gave the Foresters the lead for good at 47-44 with 14:08 remaining.  IWU continued to stay within striking distance over the next five minutes until HU put together a 9-1 run to push the lead back to nine at 67-58.  The Wildcats pulled within three at 73-70 on a Jon Moon trey with four minutes to play but could get no closer the rest of the way.  The Foresters knocked down seven of nine free throws down the stretch to seal the win.

Three Foresters joined Ganton in double figures.  Snider, who scored 15 points and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds, joined Huntington's 1000 point club when he knocked down his second jumper of the game at the 15:11 mark.  His total now stands at 1012. Alex Kock added 13 points, six rebounds and five assists, and Chase Verba finished with 11 points. Indiana Wesleyan was led by Joel Tonagel's 31 points and five assists.
