02.14.06 - The NAIA 2nd-ranked Foresters took advantage of a poor shooting performance by the Bethel College Pilots to end the regular season with an 86-70 win.  HU committed 22 turnovers in the game to 16 for the Pilots and the Foresters gave up 22 offensive rebounds, but fortunately for HU, Bethel had trouble finding the bottom of the net.  The Pilots went 28-76 from the field for 37% and they were 10-22 from the line for 46%.  The Foresters knocked down 55% of their field goal attempts and went 27-38 from the line for 71%.

HU jumped out to a 16-2 lead five and a half minutes into the contest and never gave up its double digit advantage.  Three consecutive Forester turnovers allowed the Pilots to cut it to 16-6 two minutes later, but HU responded with a 7-0 run to take back control.  Bethel got back within 10 one more time on a jumper by Jon Jones with 1:30 left in the half, but again the Foresters responded using a 5-0 run to close out the half and take a 42-27 lead to the locker room.

To open the second half, Doug Sheckler and Kyle Ganton combined for nine points to help HU push its lead to 20.  The Pilots battled back within 12 at 62-50 at the 8:49 mark, but a 4-1 Forester spurt increased the margin to 15 and Bethel would not get any closer the rest of the game.

Kock turned in his eighth double-double of the season with 24 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Foresters.  Ganton finished with 19, Kyle Benge added 14 off the bench and Sheckler had 11.  Kyle Sears paced the Pilots with 15 points and eight boards.  With the win, the Foresters complete their regular season with a 25-5 record and a 13-3 mark in the MCC.
