02.07.06 - After suffering a disappointing loss on Saturday, the NAIA #2-rnaked Huntington University Foresters (23-5, 11-3) got back to their winning ways with a 76-64 victory over the Goshen College Maple Leafs (13-14, 5-9).  Goshen struggled from the field early and the Foresters capitalized with a 16-4 run over the first eight minutes of the game.  The Maple Leafs got back within seven at 23-16 on a 3-pointer by Brice Hartman with just under seven minutes left in the half, but Huntington pushed it back to ten at 32-22 at the break.

The second half was marked with several runs by both teams.  Huntington’s Alex Kock scored a layup to start the second half, but Goshen responded with five unanswered points to cut it to 34-27.  The Foresters then pieced together a 14-7 run over the next five minutes to get their lead back to double digits at 48-34.  Goshen answered with an 11-5 spurt to trim the deficit back to eight at 53-45 with 11:25 to go.  The seesaw battle continued as Huntington put the screws to the Maple Leafs with a devastating 15-2 run, giving the Foresters their largest lead of the game at 68-47 with just under nine minutes to go.  A layup by Eric Walsh got Goshen back within 11 at the 3:43 mark, but they could get no closer down the stretch.

The Foresters were led by Kyle Ganton’s 25 points.  Kock added 20 points and Doug Sheckler finished with a double-double with 15 points and 10 boards.  Walsh paced the Maple Leafs with 21 points.  Hartman added 15 and Jordan Buller finished with 10.  The Foresters held Goshen to 37% (25-67) shooting on the night, while shooting 52% (31-60) from the field themselves.
