03.17.06 - Aside from the team’s outstanding performance as Runners-up at the NAIA Men’s Basketball National Tournament, several players also received individual honors in recognition of their accomplishments during the tournament and throughout the season.

Senior forward Chase Verba was chosen by Huntington University’s coaching staff to receive the NAIA Champions of Character award.  It is an award given to one player from each team represented at the NAIA National Tournament.  The Champions of Character program emphasizes the five core values of respect, responsibility, integrity, servant leadership and sportsmanship.  The recipient is a player that best represented those values throughout the season.

The NAIA National Tournament Committee selected sophomore forward Doug Sheckler as the recipient of the tournament’s Hustle Award and juniors Alex Kock and Kyle Ganton were both named to the All-Tournament team.  The NAIA also released its postseason awards and Kock and Ganton garnered All-America honors as well for their outstanding seasons.  Kock, the Mid-Central Conference’s Co-Player of the Year, was a First Team selection and Ganton was named to the Second Team.
