01.13.07 - The NAIA Division II fifth-ranked Huntington University Foresters (18-3, 6-1) had to fight their way past a feisty Goshen College squad and hung on for the 77-74 win.

The Foresters led early and were up 13-12 at the 14:06 mark, but a layup and 3-pointer from Brice Hartman gave Goshen an 18-15 edge with 11:29 to go in the half.  The Leafs extended the margin to six on a traditional 3-point play from Matt Crawford with just under nine minutes to go before Huntington reined them back in.  The Foresters pulled within one on several occasions over the final seven minutes and headed to the locker room down three at 37-34.

The second half became a seesaw affair with 10 lead changes in the first 10 minutes of play.  Huntington, down one at 59-58 with 8:03 left in the game, put together a 5-0 spurt capped by an Alex Kock jumper to reclaim the lead for good at 63-59.  The Leafs continued to keep the pressure on and knotted the score at 65-65 at the 4:31 mark, but the Foresters forged back in front by four on a layup from Doug Sheckler and two charity tosses from Jared Yoder.  Huntington was able to keep one step ahead of Goshen down the stretch and sealed the win at the line with four consecutive free throws in the final 19 seconds of play, two each from Kock and Kyle Ganton.

Huntington’s Kock led four Foresters in double figures with 19 points.  Yoder added with 15 points and eight assists while Ganton and Doug Sheckler both finished with 14.  Goshen’s Errick McCollum II topped all scorers in the game with 20 and Hartman chipped in 19.
