01.27.07 - A feisty Bethel College (14-11, 4-7) squad hung with the NAIA Division II 4th-ranked Foresters (21-4, 9-2) for 30 minutes, but HU was more efficient down the stretch and earned the 83-72 victory.

The first half saw seven lead changes and seven ties.  The Foresters took their largest lead in the period early at 6-2 and 8-4.  Bethel owned its biggest advantage late at 35-29 with 1:37 to go, but a Kyle Ganton jumper and a Doug Sheckler trey closed the gap to 35-34 at the break.

The Pilots continued to hang around through the midpoint of the second half and knotted the score for the 16th time in the game at 55-55 with 9:21 to play.  HU then took advantage of a nearly five-minute Bethel scoring drought to take control of the game.  The Foresters ran off 12 unanswered points capped by a jumper and two free throws from Kyle Benge to make it 67-55 with just under five minutes to play.  The Pilots got as close as six at 72-66, but Ganton hit one from downtown to effectively put the game out of reach with 1:33 left on the clock.

Kock and Ganton shared game-high honors with 26 points apiece.  Kock also took top honors with 13 rebounds in the game.  Sheckler chipped in a double-double as well with 10 points and 10 boards.  William Walker led three Pilots in double figures with 21.  Ryne Lightfoot finished with 16 and Tyler Brown had 14.

Neither team shot the ball well as HU went 26-67 from the field for 39% while Bethel was 26-65 for 40%.  The Foresters won the battle of the boards 51-37.
