01.06.07 - Spring Arbor University (13-7, 1-5) picked up its first MCC conference win of the season with a stunning 82-64 victory over the NAIA Division II second-ranked Foresters (16-3, 4-1).

After trading the lead back and forth five times over the first 11 minutes, the Cougars jumped in front on two Richard Blair free throws at the 7:06 mark.  Spring Arbor then put together a 10-5 run over the next six minutes to extend the margin to seven, which is where it remained at the break at 38-31.

The Foresters seemed to regain their composure in the locker room as they took the floor and reclaimed the lead at 43-42 on a trey from Kyle Ganton four and a half minutes into the period.  HU was still up 47-46 when the Cougars ran off eight consecutive points to take the lead for good at 54-47 with just over 10 minutes to play.

Over the next six minutes the two teams again traded baskets, but Spring Arbor put the game away with a 7-0 spurt over a 1:30 to give them a 73-59 edge with 3:21 to go.  The Cougars continued to pour it on pushing the margin to as many as 20 before reaching the final of 82-64.

Leading the way for Spring Arbor was Darby Decker who scored a game-high 32 points in the contest.  Rob Boss added a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds.  Alex Kock topped four Foresters in double figures with 20.
