01.03.07 - On Saturday, December 30, junior forward Doug Sheckler became the 36th member of Huntington University men’s basketball 1000-point club.  Entering the game against Siena Heights University, Sheckler needed 12 points to reach the milestone.  He wasted little time as he reached the mark midway through the first half on a jumper just outside the paint.  He finished the game with 18, giving him 1006 career points and putting him 34th on the all-time scorers’ list.

Sheckler is currently averaging 13.4 points per game for the NAIA Division II top-ranked Foresters.  Huntington will resume conference play on Saturday, January 6 when they travel to Spring Arbor University at 3:00 p.m.

The Huntington University Foresters compete in 14 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past eight years, Huntington has produced 57 NAIA All-America honors and 122 All-America Scholar Athlete honors. Huntington University is a comprehensive Christian college of the liberal arts offering graduate and undergraduate programs in more than 70 academic concentrations. U.S.News & World Report ranks Huntington among the top comprehensive colleges in the Midwest.
