01.26.08 - The Huntington University Foresters (16-7, 6-3) knocked off Marian College (6-14, 0-9) by a score of 67-57 to keep the Knights winless in Mid-Central Conference play.

The first half was marked by a couple of runs by both teams that made for big swings in the momentum of the game.  The Knights opened up the contest with a 6-0 run, which HU answered with a 21-1 streak.  Marian came back with a 19-5 burst to even things up at 26-26 with three minutes left in the half.  The Foresters then scored the final six points of the period to take a 32-26 lead at the break.

Kevin Kyle scored the first bucket of the second half to increase HU's advantage to 34-26, but the Knights responded with a 12-4 run to again rein the Foresters in.  Marian kept HU close over the next seven minutes, but a late 8-0 run turned a five-point Forester advantage into a back-breaking 13-point lead with 2:29 to play. The Knights got back within nine on a free throw from Tyler Kleinschmidt at the 1:32  mark, but Kellen Zawadzki and Tyler Shively both drained a pair of free throws to nail down the victory.

Kyle Benge led three Foresters in double figures with his 19 points.  Doug Sheckler finished with 15 and Kevin Kyle added a double-double with 14 points and 12 boards. Marian’s Anthony Furlin topped all scorers in the game with 27 points.  Joining Furlin in double figures for Marian was Heath Chamberlain with 11.
