- The NAIA sixth-ranked Evangel Crusaders held the Foresters to just 15 first
half points and went on to top HU 77-53 in the opening game of the
Evangel University Classic.
The Crusaders scored 17 consecutive
points early in the game to take a 19-2 lead nine minutes into the
contest. The Foresters continued to have trouble finding the
range throughout the half as they hit just 7-of-26 field goals for
26.9% and fell behind 41-15 at the break.
Things didn't get
much better for HU in the second half as Evangel continued to add to
the lead. Midway through the half the Crusaders' advantage
bulged to 35 points at 64-29 before the Foresters were able to make up
some ground late.
Kellen Zawadzki was
the lone Forester to reach double digits with 11 points off the bench.
Evangel's Jackson Capel topped all scorers in the game with 18 points
and Tim Dial added 15.
