- The National
Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the
Division II basketball awards for the 2007-08 season with two
Huntington University Foresters among the list of honorees.
Topping the list is
senior forward Doug Sheckler of
Columbia City, Indiana (Columbia City High School), who capped off a
stellar career by earning NAIA Division II First Team All-America
honors. Sheckler’s honor marks the 10th consecutive year
that the Foresters have had a player receive NAIA All-America honors.
Sheckler, who was also named the 2008 Mid-Central Conference (MCC)
Player of the Year, led this year’s team with 18.2 points and also
grabbed 7.3 rebounds per game. He finished his career with 1732
points placing him 13th on Huntington’s all-time scorers’
list.
Junior Geoff Scheetz
of Plymouth, IN, Plymouth High School earned NAIA All-America
Scholar-Athlete honors. Recipients of the award must have at least a
junior academic standing and a minimum cumulative grade point average
of 3.5. |
