02.06.08 - Huntington University senior forward, Doug Sheckler, of Columbia City, Indiana (Columbia City High School), has been named the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending February 2.  Sheckler is just the second in Forester history to earn the national recognition. Alex Kock, a 2007 Huntington graduate, earned the honor twice in his career as a Forester.  Sheckler was nominated for the NAIA award after being named the Mid-Central College Conference (MCC) Player of the Week.

For the week, Sheckler averaged 27 points and 8.5 rebounds in Huntington’s two contests while shooting 58% (19-33) from the field including 80% (4-5) from behind the arc and at the free throw line (12-15).

Against the University of St. Francis, Sheckler scored 24 points and grabbed seven rebounds and in the Foresters 73-72 upset over #11 Bethel College, he took game-high honors with his double-double of 30 points and 10 boards.
