01.10.09 - After dropping their previous two MCC contests, the Foresters (13-6, 2-3) got back in the win column with an 88-76 win over Goshen College (10-9, 1-4).  The first half was a seesaw affair with the two teams battling through seven ties and 13 lead changes and ended the period all even at 42-42.

The second half started much the same way with six more exchanges of the lead, but a 3-pointer by Kyle Benge put HU up 49-48 at the 16:01 mark and they would not trail again.  Benge's trey also sparked an 11-2 run to finally give the Foresters some breathing room at 57-50 with 13:28 on the clock.

The Leafs worked their way back within four points three times over the next two and a half minutes and were still within five with 8:14 to play when HU ran off eight consecutive points to push the margin to 13 at 75-62.  A minute later, the Foresters took their largest lead of the game at 81-64 on a pair of free throws by Kellen Zawadzki.  Goshen again crept back within single digits at 83-74 with 2:01 remaining, but Tyler Shively knocked down two charity tosses and a trey in the final minute and a half of play to seal the victory for HU.

The Foresters put six players in double figures in the winning effort with Kyle Benge topping the list with 16 points and a game-high eight assists. Zawadzki finished 15, Shively and Kevin Kyle both added 13, Luke Smith had 11 and Andrew Mock chipped in 10.  Goshen's Errick McCollum II took game-high honors with 23 points.  Joining McCollum in double figures for the Leafs was Jeremy Pope with 16 and Nate Manning with 14.  Nate West Jr. took game-high honors with nine boards.
