10.29.08 - In preparation for the upcoming season, the Foresters hosted Athletes in Action in an exhibition game and came up on the short end of  the 97-87 final.

HU took a 4-0 lead to start the game and was still up 25-21 at the midpoint of the half, but over the next five minutes, the Foresters went 1-7 from the field and committed four turnovers.  AIA capitalized with a 15-4 run to take a 36-29 lead at the 4:55 mark and headed to the locker room up 50-41 on HU.

AIA kept its momentum going as the second half started.  They immediately pushed their lead to 13 with a 9-5 spurt over the first four minutes and had a 72-57 advantage with 11:03 to play.  The Foresters kept battling and cut the deficit to seven on a layup by Kyle Benge, but AIA squelched the rally with 12-3 run to take its largest lead of the contest at 89-73 with 3:10 remaining.

Down the stretch, HU applied full court pressure and was able to whittled AIA's lead down to six with 28 ticks left, but two final Forester turnovers led to AIA's final 10-point margin of victory.

Kellen Zawadzki topped all scorers in the game with 26 points on 11-19 shooting including 4-9 from behind the arc. Joining Zawadzki in double figures for HU was Benge with 16, Kevin Kyle with 13 and a team-high eight boards and Tyler Shively with 10.  Josh Washington led six AIA players in double digits with 20 points.

AIA blistered the nets shooting 61.9% (39-63) for the game while the Foresters finished at 41.3% (31-75).  AIA also out-rebounded HU 41-30.

The Foresters begin their regular season schedule on Saturday, November 1 at the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Ill. at 4:00 p.m. CST.
