- For the third time this season, the Foresters surpassed the century mark on
their way to a blowout victory and this time it was Kevin Kyle who
led the way. The junior forward put up a career-high 30 points
and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead HU (4-3) to the 110-68 rout over
Holy Cross College.
Holy Cross hung around for much of
the first half and was still within single digits at 39-32 with 4:32
left in the half, but a 13-5 HU run down the stretch gave the
Foresters a 52-37 advantage at intermission.
The Saints scored
the first five points of the second half to cut their deficit to 10,
but it would be as close as they would get. An 18-4 spurt put HU up
24 with 13:19 on the clock and the margin continued to grow.
Kyle converted a layup at the 6:02 mark to hit triple figures.
He then added two free throws to give HU its largest lead of the
contest at 44 points with just over five minutes to go and the
Foresters cruised to the 42-point victory.
Joining Kyle in
double figures for HU was Luke Smith with 15 points and Tyler
Shively, who returned to uniform after a bout with mono, with 14
points off the bench. Andrew Mock tallied 12 assists in the
game. Elliott Jones, Jr. was the lone Saint in double figures
with 17 points.
The Foresters had
a solid shooting night hitting 37 of 70 field goal attempts for
52.9%, nine of 18 3-point attempts for 50% and 27of 31 free throws
for 87.1%. HU also doubled up Holy Cross on the boards
out-rebounding the Saints 51-25.
