11.29.08 - The Huntington University Foresters moved to 7-3 on the season with a 102-93 win over Judson University (4-4).

The game got off to a quick start with both teams pouring it on offensively.  The two teams scored 10 points apiece over the first three minutes of play and were on a pace to put up over 130 points each for the game.  They kept up that tempo over the next three minutes and were tied at 20-20 with 14 minutes to go in the half.  From there Judson’s hot hands cooled down a bit which allowed the Foresters to build as much as an 11-point lead with 3:20 to go in the half.  The Eagles found the range again down the stretch and were able to close the gap to two at 50-48 at the break.

The lead changed hands six times through the first nine minutes of the second half and the score was tied at 69-69 with 11:01 to play.  A layup by Kevin Kyle put Huntington back on top 71-69 and ignited a 19-3 run that gave the Foresters an 88-72 advantage and effectively put the game out of reach for Judson.  The Eagles got back within eight at 98-90 with just under two minutes left, but it was as close as they would get.

The Foresters put five players in double figures with Kyle Benge topping the list with 21 points.  Tyler Shively finished with 20 points.  Kyle had 17 points, Kellen Zawadzki chipped in 13 off the bench and Luke Smith had 12.  Landon Skinner led three Eagles in double digits with 25.  Josh Edwards added 22 and Dovydas Retkus finished with 17 points and a game-high nine rebounds.

Huntington again made a living at the line hitting 36-44 free throws for 82% while the Eagles went 13-19 for 68%.  The Foresters shot 50% (29-58) for the game to 46% (35-76) for Judson.  The Eagles held a slight edge in rebounding 41-38.
