11.08.08 - After dropping their first two games of the season on the road, the Foresters (1-2) were obviously glad to return to the more friendly confines of the Merillat Complex where they completely dominated Ohio State University Mansfield for the 121-61 victory.

The Mavericks owned a brief 3-0 lead when Krishawn Brooks knocked down a three to open the scoring, but a layup by Kyle Benge and two free throws from Luke Smith put Huntington on top 4-3 and they never looked back.  By the 12:38 mark of the half, the Foresters had mounted a 23-9 lead.  OSUM cut it to 11at 26-15 with 12:20 to play, but it would be as close as the Mavericks would be the remainder of the contest.  Huntington stepped up its defense and held OSUM scoreless for over seven and a half minutes to build a 44-17 advantage with under five minutes to go in the half.  The Foresters continued to add to their lead and left the floor at the break with a 31-point lead at 56-25.

The second half was nearly a carbon copy of the first as Huntington continued to dominate.  The biggest question of the period revolved around when the Foresters would reach the century mark and who would score the bucket.  It was Kevin Kyle who knocked down two charity tosses at the 5:47 mark that put Huntington up 100-56.  The Foresters then closed out the game with a 21-5 run for a final exclamation point.

Benge took game-high honors with a double-double of 27 points and 11 assists for Huntington.  Four other Foresters reach double digits as well with Smith hitting for 20, Caleb Kennedy with 18 off the bench, and Kevin Kyle and Kellen Zawadzki both with 14.  Sam Barnhill led the Mavericks with 19 points and Brooks finished with 11.

The Foresters hit 44 of 66 shots for a sizzling 66.7% from the field including 11-25 from behind the arc for 44%. OSUM shot 39.3% (24-61) for the game.  Huntington also dominated on the boards out-rebounding the Mavericks 42-22.
