12.02.08 - It was opening night in MCC play for the Foresters and they were more than ready for their visiting rivals from Taylor University.  HU smothered the Trojans defensively and came away with the easy 78-45 victory.  The win was the Foresters' fifth in a row and moved them to 8-3 on the season.

Taylor held a slight advantage through the first five minutes of play leading 11-8 at the 15:16 mark, but from there, the Foresters' defense took charge of the game.  HU held the Trojans scoreless for nearly seven minutes while mounting a 23-11 lead with 8:30 left in the half.  Taylor cut it to three at 25-22 with just over five minutes on the clock, but a 15-2 run down the stretch gave HU a commanding 40-24 advantage at intermission.

The Foresters pushed the lead to 21 four minutes into the second period and used a 10-0 spurt midway through the half to increase the margin to 30 at 68-38.  HU eventually handed the Trojans a 33-point loss marking the most lopsided Forester victory in the history of the series between the two programs.

HU was led by a trio of double digit scorers with Kyle Benge topping the list with 18 points on 8-11 shooting.  Both Tyler Shively and Kevin Kyle added 17 points. Jacob Bream was the lone Trojan to reach double figures with 11 points in the game.

Aside from a dominating defensive performance, HU also lit it up at the offensive end to the tune of 67.5% (27-40)shooting from the field.  Taylor was 16-38 for 42.1%.  The Foresters also out-rebounded Taylor 27-12.
