02.14.09 - After falling in overtime to Spring Arbor University in their first meeting in January, the Foresters (18-10, 7-7) earned a split in the series with their 87-75 win over the Cougars (19-10, 7-8).

HU got off to a slow start at the offensive end, but overcame a 12-6 deficit and took the lead for good on a putback by Alex Nafziger at the 11:18 mark. The second chance hoop ignited a 12-0 run that put the Foresters in front by double digits at 32-21 with 7:54 to go in the period.  HU continued to add to the margin and headed to the locker room up 14 at 44-30.

The Foresters pickup up where they left off to begin the second half and pushed their advantage to as many as 22 with just over 14 minutes to play.  Following a Spring Arbor timeout, the Cougars' Jared List became a one-man wrecking crew.  He drilled five 3-pointers over a four and a half minute span to spark a 22-4 run and pull Spring Arbor back within four at 66-62 at the 8:18 mark.  The margin was still four at 70-66 when HU came up with an 8-1 run to go up 78-67 with just under four minutes remaining.  The Foresters then went 7 for 8 at the line down the stretch to seal the victory.

HU’s Kevin Kyle topped all scorers in the game with 22 points.  Joining Kyle in double figures was Kyle Benge with 20 and Tyler Shively with 19.  Kyle also recorded his seventh double-double of the season with a game-high 10 rebounds.  List led Spring Arbor with 21 points.  Rob Boss chipped in 20 points and 10 boards and Kevin Ludwig finished with 16 points.
