02.28.09 - In HU's MCC Conference Tournament semifinal, the Foresters put up a good fight against the NAIA Division II 6th-ranked Indiana Wesleyan Wildcats, but were eliminated from post-season play with an 88-80 loss.  The Foresters concluded their season with a 20-12 record.

HU hung with the Wildcats early down 19-15 seven minutes into the contest. The Foresters were still within seven at 31-24 with 8:28 on the clock when IWU made an 11-1 run to take its largest lead of the game at 42-25 at the 3:46 mark. The Wildcats finished the period with a 16-point cushion after having torched the nets shooting 78% from the field.

HU came out firing in the second half and used a 16-5 run to pull within five at 51-46 with 13:46 to play.  The Wildcats countered with a 13-2 spurt over the next four minutes to regain a 16-point margin.  The Foresters had one more run in them and charged back to within five at 67-62 with 5:33 remaining, but it would be as close as HU would get.  IWU pushed the lead back to double digits at 75-64 with four minutes to play.  The Foresters rallied within six at the 1:58 mark, but the Wildcats went 9-10 at the stripe down the stretch to seal the win.

Senior Kyle Benge, playing in his final contest for the Foresters, led HU with 19 points and four assists.  Luke Smith finished with 16 points, Kellen Zawadzki had 13 and both Tyler Shively and Caleb Kennedy chipped in 10.  Antonio Murrell took game-high honors with 23 points.  Will Hubertz added 17 points and Landon Adler contributed a double-double with 12 points and a game-leading 12 boards.
