02.03.09 - The Huntington University Foresters (15-10, 4-7) kept pace with NAIA Division II 9th-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University (20-5, 8-3) for 25 minutes, but the Wildcats eventually pulled away for the 82-63 victory over the Foresters.

Huntington got off to a quick start scoring the first six points of the contest, but the Wildcats made up the difference and took the lead for good at 13-12 on a layup by Zach Coverstone.  IWU moved ahead by as many as nine at 27-18 with 5:26 to go in the half, but the Foresters fought back within two at 33-31 at the break.

Huntington kept the Wildcats close through the first five minutes of the second stanza, but a 13-2 run over a four minute span gave IWU a 57-43 advantage at the 11:26 mark.  Two minutes later the Foresters pulled within 10 at 58-48, but it was as close as they would get the remainder of the game.  A 7-0 Wildcat spurt squelched HU’s rally attempt and gave IWU a commanding 65-48 lead with just under seven minutes to play.  The two teams traded six-point runs down the stretch and the Wildcats finished with the 19-point victory.

Coverstone topped all scorers in the contest with 17 points for IWU.  Antonio Murrell had 14 points and five assists and Landon Adler finished with a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Kyle Benge paced the Foresters with 14 points.  Kellen Zawadzki chipped in 13 off the bench.  Tyler Shively had 13 and Kevin Kyle added 12.

IWU held the Foresters to 39% (24-61) shooting on the evening while the Wildcats scorched the nets at 60% (33-55) for the game.   IWU also won the battle of the boards 39-30.
