Huntington
College Assistant Coach Mark Green
Green
brings a variety of coaching experiences to the position.
In 1993-1995, he coached the freshmen boys’ basketball team at
Columbia City High School and compiled a 32-8 record during his two years
in the position.
During his five-year stint as an employee here at HC, he was able
to make use of his athletic experience and degree in physical education by
serving at various times as an assistant coach for the men’s soccer,
golf and track teams. Under
Coach Platt, Green’s coaching responsibilities will mainly include
recruiting, administrative duties, and building relationships with the
players. “I know I haven’t had a lot of playing experience, so I’m
not sure how much input Coach Platt will want from me in terms of
strategy,” said Green, “but I’m definitely a basketball junkie and
am ready to help in any way I’m needed.” As
a student-athlete for the Foresters, Green was a four-year letterwinner in
both soccer and track and field.
While successful in both sports, he left his mark in track and
field.
Upon his graduation, Green held both the Mid-Central Conference and
Huntington College records in the pole vault.
His 15’0” vault still stands in the college’s record books. “I’m
excited to be a part of this team of great guys.
They are the type of individuals that you would want your son to
grow up like.
I’m also looking forward to working with Coach Platt in a more
official capacity.
I’m anticipating a great year.” Aside from his coaching responsibilities, Green currently serves as the Director of Parks and Recreation in Columbia City.
