| 10.19.04 - Down 2-1 at
the half, the Foresters battled back with three second half goals to pick up
the 4-2 come-from-behind win over the Indiana Wesleyan Wildcats. Two minutes
into the match, IWU took the lead on a shot that appeared to be a cross from
the wing, but the wind knocked it down and off the cross bar into the net.
Seven minutes later, HC got the equalizer when Matt Gerlach sent a through
ball to Joel Sanders for the score. The Wildcats immediately re-gained
the lead when the Forester defense didn't clear a ball well and gave IWU a
good look. In the second half, Luke Caldwell set up both Adrian Laird
and David Callahan for goals midway through the period to take the 3-2 lead,
and Callahan sealed the win with his second goal of the match off an assist
from Andrew Wust with a minute and a half left to play. HC's keeper,
Courtney Hamilton, finished with eight saves on the day including a few
amazing stops to hold the Wildcats scoreless in the second half.
"This was a promising effort put forth by the men considering the run of
close games we have had the past couple weeks," said Coach Lawson.
"These men deserve all the credit for their continued fight
tonight." With the win, the Foresters improve to 6-7-2 on the
season and 2-4-1 in the MCC. |
