- A Marian College goal with 11 minutes left to play gave the Knights a
2-1 lead that the Foresters could not overcome in their final regular season
and conference match of the year. From the first whistle, HC took
charge and scored four minutes into the match on an Andrew Wust header.
After the Foresters scored, Marian picked up the pace to even the play. The
Knights got the equalizer with 17 minutes to go in the first half. The
score remained 1-1 until Marian’s Justin Ray netted the game-winner late in
the second half. “Obviously we are disappointed in the result, but
our play was some of the best I have seen all year,” said Coach Lawson.
“That is the kind of spirit and composure we need to next week in the
postseason.” The Foresters conclude their regular season with a 6-8-2
record and a 2-5-1 record in the MCC. HC tied for seventh in the
conference, but received the eighth seed for the postseason tournament.
The Foresters will host a “play-in” game against the ninth-seeded Indiana
Wesleyan Wildcats on Thursday, October 28th at 2:00 p.m. The
winner will then travel to Mishawaka on Saturday to face the top-seeded
Pilots of Bethel College. |
