| 09.07.05 - A trio
of goals in the second half lifted the Foresters to their first win of
the season, a 4-1 victory over Taylor University - Fort Wayne.
HU started the scoring in the 21st minute when Joel Sanders beat two
Falcon defenders on the flank and centered the ball to Seth Caldwell
who put it in the back of the net. Late in the half, Taylor took
advantage of a Forester defensive mishap to even the score before the
break. The second half was all HU
as they capitalized on a couple of well-executed restarts and stellar
play from the midfield, which accounted for three of the Foresters'
four goals. Tyler Gleason put Huntington ahead with a goal off
another feed from Sanders 11 minutes into the second half. Four
minutes later, Sanders got in on the scoring finishing an assist from
Anthony Burkhart. Caldwell completed the scoring with his second
goal of the day in the 75th minute on another assist from Burkhart.
"Our defense again put forth another
solid effort and once we began to play with a sense of urgency in the
second half, we were able to put the ball in the net," said Coach
Lawson. "Hopefully this game will serve as a spring board for
us."
With the win, the Foresters improve to
1-3 on the season. |
