- Ashland (OH) High School seniors Kyle
Brohm and Dustin Shafer have signed their letters of intent to play
soccer at Huntington University this fall. The two were bookends on a
back line which garnered tremendous respect throughout the state of
Ohio last fall. During their senior years, Ashland tallied 16 shutouts
while compiling a 19-3 record and a run all the way to the Elite 8 in
the state tournament.
Coach Lawson notes “Dustin
is a courageous defender with a tremendous heart and solid tackling
ability which makes him a prototypical marking back. His success at
Ashland has definitely developed his mental toughness.”
"We are also fortunate to
have a quality individual such as Kyle commit to our program", adds
Lawson. "He is a left back with excellent vision and skills.
Kyle’s composure on the ball allows him to distribute well and when
you combine that with his defensive ability, you can see why we are
excited to have him on our back line."
"The world witnessed what
a courageous and organized back line could accomplish this past summer
with Italy winning the World Cup", commented Lawson. "I am
anxious to add these two recruits to our defensive unit to bolster a
promising backline that have the potential to frustrate and shutout
opponents." |
