| 10.16.06 - The
Foresters (5-9-2) showed great perseverance as they twice battled back
from a one goal deficit with three goals in the second half to earn a
3-2 victory over Defiance College.
The Yellow Jackets used there weapons on
top to pressure HU and it paid off as they took a 1-0 lead with just
under seven minutes to play in the first half.
HU tied it up 13 minutes into the
second half when Joel Sanders sent a corner kick into the box and
Dustin Shafer sent it home. Defiance didn't waste any time in
reclaiming the lead as they scored their second goal of the match 30
seconds later.
The Foresters picked up the intensity
and were able to even the score on another corner kick as Sanders
booted it in himself from the corner in the 72nd minute. Andrew
Wust got the game-winner for HU when he corralled a long pass into the
box from Tyler Gleason and flicked it past the Yellow Jacket keeper.
"We scored three goals in the
second half for the first time this year, so I'm pleased that we kept
working and didn't give up," said Coach Lawson. "We need to be
better defensively against Grace on Wednesday it we are going to have
a chance at postseason play."
HU's Matt Boyer recorded four saves while
Defiance's Brandon Morgan had 15. |
