10.07.06 - Although the Foresters rallied from a 2-1 halftime deficit to knot the score at two apiece, it was a penalty kick in the final 10 minutes of play that gave Taylor University the 3-2 victory over HU.

Mark William kept the Foresters within striking distance with a goal in the first half. Bolstered by a rowdy Homecoming crowd, HU was able to net the equalizer with just under 14 minutes left in regulation. Matt Gerlach sent a long ball into the box creating a mad scramble that resulted in Seth Caldwell sending home the loose ball.

A few minutes later, HU had an opportunity to take the lead, but Joel Sanders' penalty kick ricocheted off the post.  At the eight minute mark, the Trojans were given the same opportunity and Jake Edgerton put it away for the game-winner.

"This was one of our better efforts and I was extremely pleased with the team's resolve to fight to the end," said Coach Lawson.

The Foresters generated 14 shots on goal to just seven for Taylor and HU keeper Matt Boyer had five saves in the match while Taylor’s goaltender, Benjamin Petroelje stopped 15 shots on goal.  The loss drops HU to 4-8-1 on the season and 1-4 in the MCC.
