| 08.24.06 - A
questionable penalty kick in the first two minutes of play was all the
Trinity Christian Trolls needed to hand the Foresters their first loss
of the season 1-0. HU keeper Kevin Keske deflected a shot on
goal high in the air. A Troll went down in the box while
challenging two HU defenders for the ball. The center official
thought there was too much contact and awarded Trinity Christian the
gift. Despite the disappointment
of an early deficit, HU won back the momentum and gained possession of
play for the remainder of the half. The Foresters created
several scoring chances, but couldn't finish.
In the second half, the Trolls picked
up the intensity, but the Forester defense was solid holding Trinity
scoreless to keep their hopes alive for the equalizer.
Unfortunately the Trolls' defense was also up to the task and earned
the shutout.
"Our defense was in good form," said
Coach Lawson. "Trinity has a lot of speed up front and we did an
excellent job of not letting them get in behind us. Our
composure on the ball dipped in the second half though. If we
are going to knock off quality programs such as these, we have to have
better tactical awareness." |
