- Huntington
University soccer coach Russ Lawson announced the addition of Steven
McKay to the 2007 roster. McKay, a local product of Huntington North
High School, had an outstanding senior campaign as he helped lead
the Vikings to a second place finish in the North Central Conference
(NCC) and a Runner-up finish in the Sectional. McKay found the back
of the net 25 times earning him a spot on the 2006 NCC
All-Conference team and the Indiana State All-District team.
“Steven plays the
game with great intensity and at a pace that will add to our team
speed,” stated Coach Lawson. “Quickness and physical play are a
couple of the biggest barriers to overcome at the collegiate level
and Steven strikes the ball well enough and consistently enough to
be a source of offense all four years. His transition to the
collegiate game should be smooth, allowing him to challenge our
returning players for minutes up front. He has great offensive
instincts and knows how to finish.”
As
a student, McKay will also make an impact in the business department
when he enters classes this fall as an HU Honor Award and Youth for
Christ Leadership Award recipient.
Huntington University is a Christian liberal arts college
located in Huntington, IN, with an enrollment of approximately 1000
students. Athletically, HU is a member of the Mid-Central
Conference (MCC) and competes in fourteen NAIA intercollegiate
sports for both men and women.
Steven is the son of Robert and Cynthia McKay from Huntington,
Indiana. |
