After playing a
scoreless first half, the Foresters netted three goals in the second
to knock off Moody Bible Institute 3-0.
In the first half,
HU controlled the tempo and was able to generate numerous scoring
chances in and around the Archer's box, but had difficulty finishing.
In the second half
Moody came out strong and had the Foresters on their heels. HU keeper
Kevin Keske came up with a huge save 10 minutes into the half that was
arguably the play of the game. Abe Janson finally opened the
scoring for the Foresters five minutes later when he finished far post
off a slotted ball by Joel Sanders. Janson scored his second goal of
the game when he one timed an Andrew Wust pass from the wing. The
Foresters' final score came on a Marc William pass through the Archer
defense to a streaking Joel Sanders who rocketed a shot into the side
netting to put the game out of reach.
‘We talk a lot about
making the right play at the right time of the game and Kevin did just
that," said Coach Lawson. "It was a fabulous save that swung the
momentum in our favor. It was a great team effort and it was
encouraging to see quality finishing by Abe and Joel."
With the win, HU moves
to 8-7 on the year. |
