The Foresters
were able to make a two-goal lead stick to win their season opener 2-1
over Shawnee State University at the University of St. Francis
Classic.
After playing 43
scoreless minutes in the first half, HU finally was able to take
advantage of a SSU miscue. Andrew Wust found Marc William, who drove
the ball past a sprawling keeper to take a 1-0 lead at the break.
Five minutes into the second period, Brad Kunze bent a shot inside the
post from 25 feet out to give HU the two-goal lead.
SSU got back in the match with a score six minutes later, but the
Foresters buckled down on defense and played a more controlled
possession game the rest of the way to preserve the victory.
HU keeper Matt
Boyer had five saves in the match and the Foresters outshot SSU 7-6. |
