| 09.22.07 - After
giving up a goal in the first minute of play, the Foresters rallied to
scored two first half goals of their own and then held on for the 2-1
win over Asbury College.
Asbury took
advantage when HU failed to close down at the top of the 18 and got
the early score 34 seconds into the contest. The Foresters quickly
regrouped and began to win back some of the momentum. At the 10
minute mark, Andrew Wust centered the ball and Marc William equalized
the game with a rocket from 25 yards out.
HU then took the lead with
eight minutes to go in the half on a Wust shot that glanced off the
post and into the back of the net. The Foresters came up with
several scoring chances in the second half, forcing Asbury's keeper to
come up with several huge saves to keep the Eagles within striking
distance.
HU keeper, Kevin Keske recorded 10 saves on the day as did Brown of
Asbury.
"When we decided to
control tempo and use our midfield, we created plenty of scoring
opportunities," said Coach Lawson. “After our poor start I was pleased
that we did not panic, showed character and fought hard to get the
lead before half."
The win moves the Foresters to
5-3 on the season. |
