With under four
minutes to play, HU’s Andrew Wust took a pass from Marc William and
sent it home to break a 1-1 tie and lift the Foresters to a 2-1
victory over Franklin College.
HU grabbed the early
lead 20 minutes into the first half when Brad Kunze intercepted a pass
at the top of the 18 and found Joel Sanders in the box for the score.
Franklin took advantage of a Forester turnover deep in their half and
evened the score just before the half ended.
HU controlled play throughout the second half and finally got the
game-winner late on Wust’s score. Forester keeper Matt Boyer recorded
five saves in the match. HU outshot the Grizzlies 18-15.
“I was pleased that we showed solid perseverance in getting the
results,” said Coach Lawson. “Whenever you can pull out a victory in
the closing minutes of a match, it is always a boost for the team.”
With the win, HU improves to 2-1 on the season. |
